This Privacy Policy explains how Clowndog Productions LLC, doing business as RVInspecting.com (the "Service", "we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and shares information about you. By using RVInspecting.com you agree to this Policy.
If you have questions, email support@rvinspecting.com.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Email address — when you purchase access, or when you submit a lead-magnet form (e.g., to download the Pre-PPI Walkthrough Checklist).
- Password — stored hashed by Supabase Auth; we never see your plain password.
- Payment information — processed by Stripe. We receive transaction confirmation, the last four digits of your card, and a Stripe customer ID. We never see or store your full card number.
- Profile details — name, phone, company name (only if you fill them in).
- Searches you save — year, make, model, and any notes you add.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages you visit, features you use, approximate time spent. Collected via Google Analytics.
- Device and log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, crash reports. Used for security and service reliability.
- Cookies — we use cookies for authentication sessions and analytics. See Section 6 below.
Information we generate about you
- Search history — the RVs you've looked up and when.
- Account records — when you signed up, your plan, your usage against any limits.
2. How we use it
We use your information to:
- Run the Service: log you in, show you saved searches, process payments, enforce usage limits.
- Send operational email: password resets, receipts, subscription notices. (We don't send marketing email unless you've specifically opted in.)
- Send buyer-guide notifications: if you submit the lead-magnet form (e.g., the Pre-PPI Walkthrough Checklist), we save your email and use it to email you when we publish a new free buyer guide. We do not send other marketing email to lead-magnet subscribers, and we never share these emails with third-party advertisers. Reply "remove" to any email and we'll delete you from the list.
- Measure ad campaigns: when you arrive from a paid ad or a tagged campaign URL (
?aud=...,?utm_source=...), we record which campaign brought you so we can measure conversion. Stored in your browser via local storage and on submitted forms. - Track referrals from partners and affiliates: when you arrive via a partner link (
?ref=...), we store the referral code in your browser's local storage for up to 60 days so that, if you decide to subscribe, we can credit the referring partner. The referral code is never shared with third parties beyond payouts to the referring partner, never tied to your name or contact details before you sign up, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage. - Improve the Service: understand which features are used, find bugs, identify abuse.
- Generate AI buyer briefs: your search queries (year/make/model) are sent to Anthropic's Claude API along with the NHTSA data we looked up.
- Support you: if you email us, we use your messages to respond.
- Comply with law: respond to valid legal requests, enforce our Terms.
3. Third-party services we use
We use a small set of third-party providers to run the Service. Each is bound by its own privacy policy:
| Provider | What it does | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (Supabase Inc.) | Hosting, database, authentication | Your email, hashed password, profile and search records |
| Stripe (Stripe, Inc.) | Payment processing | Your email, card details, billing address |
| Anthropic | AI buyer-brief generation (Claude API) | Your search queries (year/make/model) and the NHTSA data we retrieved. We do not send your name, email, or payment info to Anthropic. |
| NHTSA | Recall and complaint lookups | Anonymous requests — no personal info is sent |
| Resend | Transactional email delivery | Your email address, message content |
| Google Analytics 4 | Usage and conversion analytics | IP (truncated), device info, pages visited, events (sign-up, purchase, PDF export) |
| Meta (Facebook) Pixel | Ad attribution and conversion tracking on production pages | Page views, button clicks, sign-up and purchase events. Visitor IP and browser fingerprint. Used to measure ad campaigns we run on Meta and to build retargeting audiences. |
| GoDaddy | Web hosting | Standard server logs (IP, request paths, timestamps) |
We don't sell your personal information to anyone.
4. When we share information
We share personal information only in these cases:
- With the providers above, as needed to run the Service.
- With legal authorities, if we're required to respond to a subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process.
- In a business transfer, if the Service is acquired, merged, or reorganized. We'll require the new entity to honor this policy.
- With your consent, if you explicitly ask us to share something.
5. How long we keep information
- Account and profile data — kept while your account is active, and deleted within 30 days of account deletion (or sooner on request).
- Saved searches — kept during your 30-day access window, plus a 10-day grace period after it ends. Once the grace period expires, your saved searches are automatically deleted. If you purchase a new Buyer Research access window before the grace period ends, your saved searches carry over into it.
- Lead-magnet subscriber emails — kept until you unsubscribe (reply "remove" to any email) or for 24 months from your last interaction with us, whichever comes first. We delete unengaged emails at 24 months automatically.
- Payment records — kept for 7 years to comply with tax and accounting laws, regardless of account status.
- Email logs — kept for 90 days.
- Analytics — retained per Google Analytics' default policies (currently 14 months). Meta Pixel data is retained per Meta's default policies; opt out via your browser's tracking-protection setting or your Facebook ad preferences.
Once retention expires, we delete or anonymize the data.
6. Cookies, tracking, and local storage
On production pages we use:
- Session cookies — required to keep you logged in. These can't be turned off without breaking the Service.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) — measure page views, feature usage, and conversion events. Opt out by installing Google's browser opt-out extension.
- Advertising and attribution cookies (Meta Pixel) — set on production pages so we can measure which ad campaigns drive sign-ups and PDF downloads. The Pixel observes page views, button clicks, sign-ups, and purchases, plus your IP and browser fingerprint. To opt out at the browser level, use your browser's tracking-protection setting (Safari Intelligent Tracking Prevention, Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection, Brave Shields) or install the EFF's Privacy Badger. To opt out of Meta's ad personalization specifically, see your Facebook ad preferences.
- Audience-tag local storage (
rvi_aud,rvi_aud_persistent) — when you arrive from a tagged campaign URL or a persona landing page (/buyers,/dealers), we store an audience tag (donorphil) in your browser's session and local storage so we can measure which campaign converted you. Stored for up to 30 days. Not shared with anyone outside our analytics. Clear your browser's site data to reset.
We don't use third-party tracking scripts beyond Google Analytics 4 and the Meta Pixel.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Opt out of sale or sharing of personal information (we don't sell, but the right is yours).
To exercise any of these, email support@rvinspecting.com. We'll verify your identity (usually by emailing the address on file) and respond within 30 days.
California residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the rights described above. We don't sell personal information, so the CCPA "opt-out of sale" right doesn't result in any change to how we handle your data.
EU / UK / EEA residents
Under GDPR and UK GDPR, the lawful bases for our processing are (a) performance of a contract (running the Service for you), (b) our legitimate interests (improving the Service, preventing fraud), and (c) your consent where required (e.g., analytics). You can contact the data protection authority in your country if you believe we've mishandled your data.
8. Children
RVInspecting.com is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Security
We use standard industry protections — encrypted transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls on our databases — but no system is perfectly secure. If you become aware of a security issue, email support@rvinspecting.com with "Security" in the subject line.
10. International users
RVInspecting.com is hosted in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using the Service, you consent to that transfer.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is material, we'll post a notice on the Service or email you.
